The Crossings at Southern, a new shopping center in the heart of Hunts Point, is almost complete.
The 40,000-square-foot complex is easily accessible from the No. 6 train and already contains stores like Dunkin' Donuts, Boston Market, Dollar General and McDonald's.
Despite the visible, accessible location, some neighbors say it's just more of the same.
There's another McDonald's three blocks away, and more Chinese food, and a Burger King, they say. And it's just a mile away from the nation's largest wholesale produce market -- prompting critics to ask why the new complex is mostly fast food.
On the other hand, there are still three storefronts available, and Crossings officials say they're in talks with possible tenants to fill the gaps.
