First responders in Croton Falls are being praised for their hard work to rescue a horse that got stuck in mud in the woods.

The Croton Falls Fire Department responded to the EMS call on Hardscrabble Road yesterday.

News 12 is told the horse was up to its shoulders in mud while the rider went looking for help.

Several units were on the scene with all-terrain vehicles and a drone.

It took about three hours and a lot of manpower, but the horse got out safely.
