Connecticut Republican leaders are proposing a new plan to address the affordability crisis in the state.

They are making a major push on a "working class car tax elimination" and to cut income taxes for working-class families.

The "car tax elimination" would be a 100% refundable income tax credit for qualifying individuals on property taxes paid to towns on their cars.

State Sen. Ryan Fazio says the income tax cut could provide roughly $1,600 of relief every year, on a permanent basis.

The plan also calls to eliminate public benefits charges from electric bills which would lower them by 15-20% for the average family.

CT Republicans say they want to light the way for a more affordable Connecticut and urge democrats to work with them on this endeavor.

The full press conference is available to watch online.
