A new campaign in New York City is aiming to help more people become part of the solution when it comes to street harassment.
New York City's 16 Days of Activism is an hourlong virtual training session against gender-based violence made possible by agencies and companies, including the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, Commission on Gender Equity, L'Oreal Paris, and Hollaback.
"When you see somebody being cat-called or, someone, because of their gender, is being pursued -- whether someone may think it is friendly but really it is not, it is an invasion of that person's privacy and that space," says Jacqui Ebanks, executive director of the Commission on Gender Equity. "How do you help them feel supported, how do you safely protect them and protect yourself? And how do you, most importantly, stop the harassment?"
Signups for the training can be found here.
