The United States Senate is set to vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act on Wednesday, with Democrats making a concerted push to get this act through.
The bill would guarantee the right to have access to safe and legal abortions in New York – a crucial step forward in ensuring women can make health care decisions for themselves.
“When abortion is illegal, women die,” said Chantelle Piper, organizer from Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights. “For decades to come this is going to be the state. The siding and controlling what women and young girls can do with their bodies, their futures and lives are being ripped from them.”
With several upcoming abortions rights demonstrations coming up this week, eyes will be on Congress and their decision for the fate of this bill.
