Demonstrators rally in support of man they say was wrongfully convicted of attempted murder
Demonstrators rallied outside Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark’s office Tuesday in support of Andre Brown, who they say was wrongfully convicted of attempted murder more than 20 years ago.
They say Brown was wrongfully convicted of attempted murder of two teenage boys back in 1999. Now, 22 years later, his legal team says they have produced enough evidence that needs to be heard.
However, Brown’s team says the Bronx DA’s office has not agreed to a virtual hearing, which is the only way to proceed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Brown’s lawyers are calling on Clark to allow a hearing to move forward that they believe could exonerate him.
The Bronx DA’s Office will have to make a decision for the court on whether they will allow the virtual hearing by Friday.
