The Department of Buildings says first responders found one person dead at a Brooklyn building that was being inspected for structural stability.
The DOB says it was called to 486A Decatur St. to inspect the three-story residential building. Inspectors say the building was filled with excessive debris to the point they could not get indoors for a full interior inspection. The structure was considered stable and not in imminent danger of collapse from the outside, however.
The DOB says responders informed it that one person was found dead inside and that a second was taken to the hospital.
A full vacate order was issued and the owner was given a violation for failure to maintain the property.
