Deputy Chief Charles McEvoy departs NYPD, take on new corporate security role

He was born and raised in Brooklyn, and he served the borough for much of his career.

Deputy Chief Charles McEvoy said goodbye to the NYPD after more than 30 years of service on Thursday. 
Deputy Chief McEvoy walked out of One Police Plaza accompanied by his wife, two children and dozens of officers cheering him on. 
He was born and raised in Brooklyn, and he served the borough for much of his career. 
Deputy Chief McEvoy joined the department in 1989 and has worked all over Brooklyn, while working his way up the ranks. 
He says leaving the department was a tough decision. Now he’s taking a job in corporate security. 
He says he is looking forward to the new challenge.
