Staff and residents of the group home on Pelham Parkway South said they were traumatized after two large dogs killed a resident's pet cat.
Staff said a resident went to the backyard to feed his pet cat, when he saw two large dogs attacking it on Monday at 11 a.m.
"We were yelling for the dogs to, like, stop, and they wouldn't stop," said Nadeesha Llewellyn, a staff member at the group home.
Exclusive video captures the moments the two dogs kill the cat.
"Just killed it... mutilated it like that. It's bad," said Emina Futic, who started the group home in the 1980's.
Staff said they called police to report the incident. They said officers did not respond until after 5 p.m. and refused to take a report.
Concerned staff member told News 12 two people arrived looking for the two dogs.
"No remorse. No 'I'm sorry, did anybody get hurt?' It was just they didn't care," said Llewellyn.
Llewellyn said both people refused to leave contact information.
The community is now turning to the public for help holding the alleged owners accountable.
