Some safety improvements are coming to White Plains Road and Burke Avenue in Allerton starting this month.
The area will add two bus-boarding islands to provide a safe place in the street for pedestrians to climb aboard.
Currently, straphangers have to cross into part of the street in order to board the BX39 and BXM11 because of the street's design.
The DOT says this results in bad visibility for vehicles and pedestrians under the elevated subway and creates a hazard when cars try to go around buses.
The islands will also be ADA accessible, according to DOT's Vision Zero.
