DOT warns New Yorkers to drive safely with school back in session

The agency has already finished 15 safety projects near schools and has another 29 projects underway.

As families get ready for the start of the school year, the city’s Department of Transportation wants New Yorkers to take all precautions on roadways.
The agency has already finished 15 safety projects near schools and has another 29 projects underway.
The DOT is encouraging all schools to apply to have adjacent streets converted into open streets during school hours for safer drop-offs and pickups as well as outdoor recreation.
In the Bronx, raised crosswalks can be seen outside of Our Lady of Grace School on Bronxwood Ave. and E 225th Street. In Brooklyn, raised crosswalks can be seen outside of P.S. 192 in Borough Park and P.S. 94 in Sunset Park.
