Dozens of activists gathered in Downtown Brooklyn Sunday to call for the protection of their abortion rights.
The demonstrators gathered across the street from the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Municipal building.
Organizers said they held the rally on Mother’s Day to send a message. Many people also brought their kids to the demonstration.
Many speakers expressed their concern over the
leaked Supreme Court draft opinion that might overrun decades-old Roe v. Wade -- a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court in which the court ruled that the U.S. Constitution protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without government restriction.
They said the rally was the start of "A Week of Action," and they called on anyone who feels strongly about protecting reproductive rights to get involved.
They’re also planning for a huge flagship rally in Union Square next Saturday, and they are expecting similar rallies in large cities all around the country.
