Dozens gathered Saturday to remember those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with an annual run.
The Thomas Clesse 5K run was held in Pelham Gardens. The race commemorates those who lost their lives on 9/11 as well as the work of dedicated members of the NYPD.
The race is named after Thomas Clesse. Clesse died 10 years ago and was the former 49th Precinct lieutenant.
Those who knew Clesse say he went beyond the call of duty.
Runners and non-runners alike donated money to the race. The money collected from the runners goes to police orphans and widows of fallen officers.
Runners say they were glad to help a good cause.
