Dozens of people took to the streets in downtown Brooklyn Sunday as part of the 22nd annual National Day of Protest against police brutality, oppression and what they say is "the criminalization of a generation." 

"We started this because there was an epidemic of police terror," says Carl Dix, co-founder of the Coalition to Stop Police Brutality. "Police were getting away with brutally, murder and targeting, and that has continued and that is why we have continued to resist."

Dix, a veteran revolutionary fighter from the 1960s, co-founded the coalition in 1996.

Parents expressed their hurt and anger in the deaths of their children as they continue to seek for answers. 

According to a Washington Post report, more than 700 people have been shot and killed so far in 2017.

A gathering will be held on Nov. 4 in Times Square to continue the fight for justice.
