Bronx Assembly member Michael Benedetto announced a $350,000 grant for the Edgewater Park Volunteer Fire Department. The money will be used to replace the current fire engine, which is approximately 35 years old.
This comes on the heels of the volunteer fire department’s 100th year of providing service to the Edgewater Park community and is the only volunteer department in the Bronx that is still running.
The new engine will be designed to ride on the narrow roads in the community with no issues. The department says the new truck will be delivered within the next year.
