Councilmember Pierina Sanchez and several organizations on Saturday held a summer block party for Morris Heights residents.

The event featured fun activities and community resources for those who attended.

“My son was murdered on this block in 2020 and we just continue to do this because we love our community and we love the people here," said Morris Heights resident Carrie Cuthbertson. "Our kids don't have anything in this community, so when we come together like this, we know that we are one,” she said.

Organizers say this is the second year the event has been held, but they look forward to many more in years to come.
