Monday was a day of celebration for the FDNY in Brooklyn as the EMS graduation and promotion ceremony was held at the Christian Cultural Center.
On their big day, 152 probationary EMTs and 24 paramedics walked across the stage–13 lieutenants were promoted to captain and 40 EMTs became lieutenants.
Deputy Assistant Chief Ceaser Escobar was promoted to assistant chief of EMS operations - a role previously held by Alvin Suriel, who died from a 9/11 related illness last December.
Many who graduated on Monday missed the ceremony earlier this year because they went from the academy straight to the streets during the Omicron surge.
