Officials say one teen is dead and another is in critical condition after being pulled from the waters of the Bronx River Friday afternoon.
Erikson Villa, 13, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Barnabas Hospital. A second boy is in critical condition, also at St. Barnabas Hospital.
Officials say the boy in critical condition was pulled out of the waters at Starlight Park just minutes after the search began. Villa, on the other hand, was submerged for over an hour before being pulled out of the water.
It is unclear how the boys wound up in the water.
This is not the first incident that has occurred at the river. Back in 2010, a 15-year-old and 17-year-old died after swimming under the waterfall that connects to the river.
