Exclusive surveillance video obtained by News 12 shows two gunmen robbing people in Highbridge.
Police say it happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday at the corner of Ogden Avenue and West 170th Street.
The video shows the robbers getting out of a car and following a person. Then the pair walk around the corner and into a bodega, where they point a gun inside the store before they run back into the car and drive off.
According to the video timestamp, it all unfolded in about one minute.
Police said the two thieves pointed a gun at their victims and stole jewelry from a 46-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman.
Highbridge residents had mixed reactions.
“It’s the same thing,” said Joshua Kraemer. “This happens all the time. It’s nothing new.”
“It’s shocking because it shouldn’t happen to anyone,” said Casey Pidcock.
Kraemer said he saw the female victim talking to police after the incident.
“The lady just looked like she was in distress,” Kraemer said. “I saw that and was like, ‘Oh.’”
No one was hurt in the incident.
“The [male victim] did the right thing,” Pidcock said. “He didn’t fight back. He just kind of gave up.”
Police said they’re searching for two men who were wearing black masks.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact police.
