Chef Geneva Wilson is encouraging residents to bring healthier options to their dinner table for Thanksgiving.
Wilson, owner of Ms. Geneva's 50-50, believes it all starts with substituting heavy, starchy white food.
She recommends using fresh herbs on meats, and says not to boil or fry vegetables. She suggests steaming vegetables instead, or have them raw.
A bowl of fun, colorful fruit will keep the kids coming for seconds.
She says the holidays are also a perfect time to encourage our local grocery stores to stock up on healthy items.
