WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
A beautiful Thursday set the stage for an absolutely delightful Friday.
Summerlike temperatures will continue into the end of the work and school week, but don't get too used to these warm days. Saturday and Sunday will bring back jacket and hoodie weather with temperatures, at their warmest, in the low 70s. At their coolest? Upper 50s and lower 60s.
Humidity improves Friday night into Saturday making the weekend feel spectacular as well. There will be seasonable temperatures to start heading into next week and quickly warm back up into the low 80s for midweek.
The rain has gone away, but will it come back soon? Parts of the borough are still in a moderate drought. However, the borough won't see the return of beneficial rain for the rest of the work week or the weekend. Low chances return for midweek.
This weekend is the last weekend of astronomical summer. Fall begins Monday at 2:19 p.m. after a very fall-like weekend. Extended drought conditions could shorten the fall foliage season as well as not let the leaves be as vibrant.
Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues in the Atlantic. For the immediate future, there are not favorable conditions for it to intensify. However, by early next week there is the chance for it to strengthen from a tropical storm into a hurricane. The News 12 Storm Watch team will continue to monitor, but it poses no threat to the area as of Thursday night.
