Thursday marked one year since a mandate issued by Gov. Andrew Cuomo had nursing homes in the state readmit residents from hospitals who were recovering from  COVID-19.

More than 15,000 nursing home residents have died of COVID-19 in New York.

Family members gathered in Foley Square in lower Manhattan Thursday to remember those who were lost.

They were also calling for an investigation and accountability from the governor.

One Brooklyn woman says she wants justice for her mother who died. Asked what justice would mean for her -- she said she didn't know because nothing would bring her back.

Relatives held photos of their loved ones at the gathering while calling for Cuomo's resignation. 

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli is the only other official other than the governor who has the power to refer Attorney General Letitia James to investigate. The demonstrators were urging for that to happen.
