Family members of one of the victim's in the fatal Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia say they hope to honor his legacy of helping others.
Derrick Griffith's mother and sister spoke with News 12 at their home in Brooklyn.
Griffith, who was originally from the Bronx, was a decorated educator.
The 42-year-old was the dean of student affairs and enrollment at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn.
He also founded the transitional CUNY Prep High School in the Bronx.
His family says they are still shocked that he is gone. They want him to be remembered for all the good he did in his lifetime.
A funeral is planned for Griffith on Friday.
