A family in West Farms is desperately searching for their deceased mother's dog after it was taken while on a walk with her husband.
The 10-year-old Shih Tzu named Juju belonged to Ana Bauta. Her family says the dog went missing Christmas night, when her husband, Jose, was walking the dog and he passed out.
He says he was walking in the area of Boston Road and 180th Street, and passed out due to being overwhelmed with the loss of his wife.
Jose says when he regained consciousness, he realized the dog was missing. The family claims while he was passed out, a stranger took the dog.
They say Jose made it back home in a disoriented state, and told them about the missing dog while they prepared for his wife's funeral.
The family says they called animal shelters in the area, as well as searched the neighborhood.
Anyone with information is asked to call the family at 347-251-7222 or 646-305-0005.
