FDNY: 2 dead, others injured after fire engulfs top floor of 5-story Flatbush building

Two people are dead, and several others are injured, after flames tore through an apartment building in Flatbush early Monday morning.

Two people are dead, and several others are injured, after flames tore through an apartment building in Flatbush early Monday morning.
Crews responded to calls around 1:50 a.m. for a fire near Linden Boulevard and Flatbush Avenue.
Video from the Citizen app shows flames pouring from the top floor of what News 12 is told is a five-story apartment building.
It took crews a little less than an hour and a half to get the fire under control.
News 12 is told eight people were hurt and two people, a 69-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy, were pronounced dead. Another is in serious, but stable condition, and two had minor injuries. Officials say five firefighters are among those hurt, with one of them in serious but stable condition. The others are being treated for minor injuries.
Fire Marshals are working to figure out what caused the fire.
The Red Cross tells News 12 it is working to help the families impacted both financially and emotionally.
