Feeling dehydrated? Water intake calculator can help you stay safe during hot weather

The common advice is to try and drink eight glasses a day – but for some, the water intake calculator can recommend you drink up to 14 glasses a day.

New Yorkers are doing what they can to keep cool during this stretch of scorching-hot temperatures, but dehydration is still a major risk for many who are out and about.

That’s where a water intake calculator comes into play. These calculators use your age, height, weight, activity level, and location to determine how much water you should be drinking a day.

The common advice is to try and drink eight glasses a day – but for some, the water intake calculator can recommend you drink up to 14 glasses a day.

Some New Yorkers were in shock to learn about how much water the calculator said they should be drinking.

“I think I need to go to the splash pad and start chugging and catch up,” said Bed-Stuy resident Tonio Altieri-D’Alo.
