Flames ripped through an apartment building in University Heights Sunday night.
Fire officials deemed the blaze at 135 West 183rd St. at least a four-alarm fire. Flames and thick black smoke engulfed the building as crews worked to control the scene.
At least 10 fire trucks were on the scene Sunday night, with firefighters using hoses on the top of building. EMS crews were also at the scene waiting to help anyone who might have been injured.
There is no word yet on any injuries, but people were forced from the building.
The fire was finally brought under control after crews worked for a few hours. Sunday night's strong winds contributed to the fire becoming more dangerous.
