A fire ripped through a building Wednesday, badly damaging five apartments and displacing numerous families.
Officials say the fire started inside a resident's apartment on the fifth floor of the building near East 165th Street and Sherman Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
More than 200 firefighters fought the flames.
Officials haven't confirmed the cause of the fire, but witnesses at the scene believe that the fire started on a stove that had been left on.
The Red Cross is assisting the tenants with temporary shelter.
