Former Hempstead Town Supervisor Tony Santino has died.

GOP Chairman Joe Cairo made the announcement Thursday.

“I send my deepest condolences to the entire Santino family and to all of Tony’s loved ones,” Nassau County Republican Committee Chairman Joseph G. Cairo, Jr. said. “Tony Santino was the quintessential Republican — a dedicated public servant and part of the fabric of our organization for decades. From his years working at Republican Headquarters to his service as Hempstead Town Supervisor, Town Councilman, and East Rockaway Village Trustee, Tony cared deeply about the people he served and took great pride in his work. He had a sharp wit, a big personality, and a lifelong love for public service. Tony will be remembered fondly by all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him and calling him a friend," said Cairo.
