Severe Drought: Parts of Long Island are now under severe drought with rain deficits of more than 8 inches since August.
Winds have diminished a little for now, but the fire threat will continue with extremely dry weather into the weekend. The weather pattern doesn't support rain right now and we continue to be in a drought. The temperatures will start cold and rise into the 60s by the weekend.
TODAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 50. Wind chill values between 20 and 30 early. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.
TONIGHT: Cloudy, with a low around 32. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph.
Friday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40. North wind 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 62. Gusty winds, watching fire threat. Possible red flag warning day,
