FreshDirect has donated funds to help purchase backpacks and other school supplies for underprivileged children in Castle Hill.
Bronx Councilwoman Annabel Palma says she was happy with the event turnout.
"This year we were able to collect over 500 backpacks, book bags, notebooks, pencils," Palma said.
The donations were in support of the fourth annual Back to School Festival.
