The United Airlines NYC Half Marathon was the first Road Runners race to be back at full scale since the pandemic began with 25,000 participants.
For the first time in two years, runners of all backgrounds took on the 13.1-mile race that started in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and ended in Manhattan’s Central Park.
Runners who were supposed to participate in the 2020 and 2021 events said they were disappointed in not being able to do so, so they eager to hit the pavement this year.
They also said the spring weather was perfect for the event.
The city's full marathon is still scheduled for this fall with runners going the full 26.2 miles through all five boroughs in November.
