A Brooklyn family said their final goodbyes to a 1-year-old fatally shot at an outdoor gathering earlier this month.
Funeral services were held Monday for 1-year-old Davell Gardner Jr. at Pleasant Grove Tabernacle in Bed-Stuy.
Attorney General Letitia James, Rev. Al Sharpton and Councilmember Robert Cornegy were among the mourners at Monday’s services.
James says she believes the NYPD’s investigation will soon lead to an arrest and may bring a bit of peace to the mourning family.
There was also a heavy police presence surrounding the family all morning.
The boy’s father, Davell Gardner Sr., told News 12 he appreciates the support of the community not just today, but over the past two weeks.
Loved ones held a moment of silence to read the 1-year-old’s obituary, remembering him as a baby who smiled and showed his dimples with a sparkle in his eyes.
