Following the Texas school shooting that killed 19 children, Republican candidate for governor Bob Stefanowski said Connecticut's "strongest gun laws in the entire nation...should stay that way."
It's a departure from 2018, when a leaked video showed Stefanowski saying the Sandy Hook gun law "is not a good bill. I will veto any legislation that makes it tougher on gun owners."
He issued a video statement Wednesday afternoon.
"Connecticut already has the strongest gun laws in the entire nation and they should stay that way. But I will also use my platform as governor to urge Congress for a comprehensive overhaul of our federal gun laws to promote solutions that protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners, but that also prevents those who pose a risk to themselves and others from getting their hands on a gun in the first place," Stefanowski said.
