Gov. Phil Murphy announced that he has reached an agreement with Democrats in the state Legislature on recreational marijuana use in New Jersey.
This comes after a vote was postponed in November on approving the legislation to set up the legal cannabis industry.
New Jersey voters approved the use of adult-use marijuana in a ballot question last month.
"This legislation will accomplish our shared goals of delivering restorative justice and ensuring that the communities most impacted by the War on Drugs see the economic benefits of the adult-use cannabis market,” Murphy said in a statement.
Marijuana use will be legal come Jan. 1 in New Jersey.
