The 17th annual Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze is back and ready to light up the night at Old Bethpage Village Restoration starting Wednesday.
The event will feature 7,000 pumpkins and spans over the course of 36 days.
Tickets for adults are $32 and $24 for kids. All proceeds go to preserving some of the historic buildings at Bethpage Village.
Historic Hudson Valley, a not-for-profit with a mission of historic preservation, puts on the pumpkin show.
"Our mission is to advance the importance of historic properties and thereby ensure their preservation, and so we hope that Pumpkin Blaze has that very same effect here at old Bethpage Village Restoration," says Waddell Stillman, of Historic Hudson Valley.
According to historians at Preservation Long Island, many historic sites across Long Island like Old Bethpage Village suffered financially during the pandemic.
"They need help. They need upkeep, they are old structures," says Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. "It's living history, we want to preserve them.
All the pumpkins at this year's event are from the Rock Camp Farm in Calverton. Once the event is over, the pumpkins are used in the soil.
