Highland Falls files petition to dissolve government

Highland Falls is the latest village in Hudson Valley with a petition to dissolve its government.The petition was filed Thursday to dissolve the 115-year-old village into the Town of Highlands.
The move follows years of talks to consolidate services and save taxpayer money.
If approved by voters, village government -- including its police force and municipal services -- would be dissolved.
A similar petition was passed in Rockland to dissolve the village of South Nyack.
News 12 has reached out to Highland Falls Mayor Joe Donofrio for comment.
