Music lovers descended on Brooklyn on Saturday to honor a hip-hop legend on the 50th birthday of the genre.
"Disco King Mario" is known as a founding father of hip-hop in New York.
Fans said it was at Rosedale Park in the Bronx where the musical legend would host shows, block parties, and sculpt the genre as it is known today.
Rosedale Avenue will now be co-named Disco King Mario Way.
