Some of the Bronx’s hip-hop pioneers were honored tonight at 2024 Element of Hip Hop Awards on Wednesday.
Dozens of people filled Salsa Con Fuego in University Heights to honor Bronx natives like Karen Kaylove, a well-renowned graffiti artist and DJ Ace, a retired NYPD lieutenant who loves to showcase his hip hop roots. They were honored for their contributions not only to the genre, but to their communities.
Hip-hop legend Lisa Lisa was honored as well and gave a snippet of one of her latest singles live for those in attendance.
