A big celebration was held in Stratford on Saturday as a local church celebrated its 100th anniversary.
About 60 volunteers and a choir comprised of 20 singers turned out to observe the milestone for Holy Name of Jesus Church.
The parish is known for its diverse congregation, and "for bringing people together through its rich and positive traditions."
"Since it's a national parish, there are no boundaries, so we have parishioners coming in from Shelton, from Orange, from all over the place who have been here for many, many years," said church pastor, Father Bert Pinciaro.
"Everybody really wants to be part of this significant moment in our parish history because it's part of our life, part of our spiritual life, part of our community, and we're all looking forward to this magnificent celebration today," said the church's Christopher Silhavey.
Organizers said the church was originally held in a building behind the current parish, which now serves as a church hall.
Bishop Frank Caggiano was among those who praised the church during the celebration.
Anniversary events will continue throughout the coming year.
