Here are some tips from New York City Emergency Management:
  • Take shelter above ground
  • Move valuables to higher floors
  • Stay away from buildings surrounded by floodwater
  • The city says you can stay up to date with weather alerts on Notify NYC
Zachary Iscol, commissioner of NYCEM, says they are prepared for all possibilities.
"I will tell you that we've got life safety folks all over the city, FDNY with high axle vehicles. We've got NYPD out. We've deployed the tow truck task force around the city to remove vehicles." Iscol said.
