Mayor Eric Adams took the first day of summer to crack down on illegal vehicles, hosting an event Tuesday at which a DSNY bulldozer crushed hundreds of illegal vehicles.

The city is looking to remove these illegal bikes from the city streets. Since January, over 2,000 of these vehicles have been seized by the NYPD – 80% more than last year to date.

The motorbikes and ATVs were destroyed to prevent them from being recirculated onto the streets. The city plans to destroy hundreds more in the near future.
