Hunts Point residents came out for some free, fresh food Saturday to prepare for Thanksgiving.
The Hunts Point Produce Market gifted bags full of fresh produce to help create holiday meals for families in need.
Bags included onions, celery, butternut squash, acorn squash and more.
The store donated 2,000 bags of more than 20,000 pounds of food to those who need a little extra help during the holiday time.
"I think that when you are fortunate enough to give back it's a pleasure to be able to see the people that are going to be reviving our food and making good use of them," says Myra Gordon, Director of Hunts Point Produce Market "So they can celebrate the holiday with all of the rest of us."
