Some girls in the Bronx are getting a boost of confidence from a support group that teaches them about inner beauty.
Akilah Thompson founded the group "I Am Beauty" about two years ago in an effort to help girls age 10 and older build up their self-esteem.
The girls take part in exercises that help with their confidence, like chanting, "I am beautiful."
They're also taught skills like social media etiquette and how to network. The boot camp-style program currently operates in the summer and fall.
Thompson is hoping to expand into other boroughs to help even more girls succeed.
