An injured hawk found in the yard of a North Babylon home last month is receiving care at a rehabilitation facility in Massapequa.

Environmental Conservation Officer Tara Francis arrived at the home on Nov. 22 where the bird, a juvenile Cooper’s hawk, had been contained by the homeowner.

The officer transported the hawk to the rehabilitator, which said it appeared to be suffering from a broken wing and an issue with its left eye.

The state DEC confirmed Monday that the bird had suffered broken wing and is still receiving care.

“Cooper’s hawks eat small- to medium-sized birds, as well as small mammals, and have a stable population in New York state,” the DEC said.
