Federal prosecutors charged an Irvington man with hate crimes for allegedly targeting Jewish victims.

Officials say that on Oct. 27, Alazim Baker attacked a rabbi in Manhattan. They say Baker grabbed the rabbi’s yarmulke, threw it on the ground and then stomped and spit on it. They say that Baker then punched the rabbi, causing a brain bleed.

Officials say that Baker attacked two other Jewish men who tried to protect the rabbi.

He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
