Israel's calls to evacuate in northern Gaza is sparking fears about the prospect of displacement of millions of Palestinians, which Jordan’s king is calling "a red line" that cannot be crossed.
“The Israelis were always adamant about no return of refugees. And that's why the Palestinians cling to what they call the law of return, or the right of return. So, any eviction, any new mass of Palestinian refugees, for us, is a repeat of 1948,” said Mustafa Al-Hamarneh, a Jordanian senator.
That fear of history repeating itself, of another nakba, or catastrophe, as Palestinians describe it, is felt across the region.
