Johns Hopkins University says that as of Saturday, 1 in 1,000 Americans have died from COVID-19.
The statistic is based on data from both the university and the U.S. Census Bureau. The first reported case of COVID-19 was in January 2020, and the first death was in February.
Not even a year later, the U.S. has more than 18 million cases and more than 330,000 deaths.
