Ducklings rescued from a storm drain in New RochelleThe New Rochelle Fire Department came to the rescue of seven ducklings this weekend. Some local residents made the call for help after noticing a mother duck acting frantic near a storm drain. The first responders swooped in, and mom was later reunited with all her babies.
NJ-based company recalls nearly 43K pounds of beef products due to possible E-Coli contamination: A company in Gloucester County is recalling nearly 43,000 pounds of beef products due to possible E-Coli contamination. The raw ground beef products come from Lakeside Refrigerated Services, and were produced back on June 1. The problem was discovered during routine testing. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products.
Police: Man, son found unresponsive in Glen Cove poolPolice say a man and his son were found unresponsive in a backyard pool in Glen Cove. According to police, the incident happened at a home on Hitching Post Lane. The unidentified 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The man's 12-year-old son is hospitalized, but his condition is unknown.
Shelton mayor: Star Pin fire debris may contain asbestosDebris from a large structure fire that broke out at a former factory building in Shelton may contain asbestos, the town's mayor says. Part of Canal Street in Shelton still remains blocked off Monday morning as crews monitor hot spots. Officials say asbestos was released into the air during the fire at the former Star Pin building Saturday around 7:30 p.m.
Police: Man found dead, burned on side of Hutchinson River ParkwayA man was found dead on the side of the Hutchinson River Parkway early this morning, police say. The man's body was found on the northbound side of the parkway near Exit 6 toward New Haven.News 12 is told firefighters responded to what they thought was a fire on the side of the highway around midnight. When they started to extinguish the flames, News 12 is told they discovered the man's body.
