Juneteenth was celebrated with music as well as a display of hope for real change at Grand Army Plaza Friday night.
Just like many behind the Black Lives Matter movement say the end to systemic racism is a marathon and not a sprint, the Juneteenth celebrations were very much the same.
Dozens of rallies were held across the city and Friday night performances were accompanied by the sound of drums, chanting and cheering.
Earlier this week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo made Juneteenth a state holiday.
